Mob Violence in Bihar: Muslim Youth Beaten to Death Amid Communal Tensions

A brutal mob attack in Chapra, Bihar, has left a Muslim youth dead and his brother critically injured, the Clarion reported. The victim was beaten mercilessly in broad daylight by a large crowd, allegedly over false accusations of cattle theft. The incident occurred in Khanua Mohalla under Nagar police jurisdiction.

Police confirmed the arrest of two main suspects who admitted involvement, while investigations continue to apprehend others. The family and local witnesses insist the attack was a premeditated communal lynching fueled by religious hatred and personal grudges, not a mere clash.

The victim’s brother described how they were tied and beaten with rods, with the mob chanting communal slurs. The attack has sparked outrage in the local Muslim community, with activists condemning it as a hate crime and demanding swift justice.

Despite arrests, the family fears retaliation and calls for protection and accountability. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about minority safety and law enforcement’s role in curbing mob violence in Bihar.
