SRW Condemns Saudi Arabia’s Execution of Five Shi’a Men from Al-Awamiyah

The International Organization Shia Rights Watch has condemned the execution of five Shi’a men from Al-Awamiyah in the Qatif Governorate, calling on the international community and the United Nations to take action.
In a statement, the organisation identified the men as Mohammed Munir Al-Zaher, Ali Abdulrab Al-Sheikh, Reda Mohammed Abu Abdullah, Ali Hassan Al-Ribh and Hassan Zaki Al-Faraj. It alleged that the cases involved violations of fair trial standards and confessions obtained under torture.
The organisation also raised concerns over what it described as systematic discrimination against Saudi Arabia’s Shi’a minority, urging international bodies to promote accountability, protect religious freedoms and ensure fair judicial proceedings.
It extended its condolences to the families of the executed men and called for the release of detainees and equal citizenship rights for all members of Saudi society.
