The Indian Shia Scholars Council demands the reconstruction of Jannat al-Baqi and rejects the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to the country

Today, Sunday, the Secretary-General of the Shia Scholars Council in India, Mr. Yasoub Abbas, announced the council’s rejection of the upcoming visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the country, due to the Kingdom’s continued violations of the rights of Shia Muslims and the prevention of the construction of the graves of the Imams of Al-Baqi (peace be upon them).

Abbas said in a statement to the Indian newspaper (Amar Ujala), which was followed by Shia Waves News Agency: “The council held its periodic meeting in the city of Lucknow, to discuss the conditions of Shia Muslims in India and the world, during which he announced his categorical rejection of the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit to the country on November 14.”

He added, “We will not allow such a visit, and the graves of our pure imams in Al-Baqi have been without shrines for nearly 100 years,” referring to the tragedy of the destruction of pure graves at the hands of Wahhabi gangs in Saudi Arabia.

Abbas indicated that “the Shia Personal Status Law Council will write a letter to the Prime Minister asking the government to pressure the Saudi government to rebuild the destroyed graves in the Baqi al-Gharqad cemetery.”
