Bahrain: Protests inside Jaw prison, rejecting ongoing restrictions policies

Sources monitoring affairs of prisoners of conscience inside Jaw Central Prison in Bahrain confirmed that a number of political prisoners in Building 7 continue protesting due to continuing offense against scholars and prominent figures.

Bahraini activist Youssef Al-Jamri said in a tweet, “Political prisoners in Building 7 of Jaw Prison confirm the continuation of the protests due to the continued offense against scholars and prominent figures.”

According to Bahraini human rights sources, the prison administration has begun to implement a policy of collective punishment on hundreds of political detainees, by closing cells for 24 hours and depriving them of contact with their families.

The sources confirmed, “The Jaw Prison administration is diligently insulting prisoners of conscience and subjecting them to abusive practices, including preventing them from their natural rights, such as the right to health care and decent family visits.”

All books and possessions of prisoners of conscience are taken as part of the policy of isolation and systematic revenge practiced by the prison authorities.
