Blood donation campaigns begin in honor of birth anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)
As the blessed birth anniversary of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) is approaching, the noble tradition of donating blood is revived through popular campaigns being formed under various titles in all parts of the world, including the holy city of Karbala.

People’s campaigns to donate blood on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, are underway, with Shiites in all parts of the world donating their blood to other members of society in need of receiving blood.
As in previous years, on the third day of Sha’ban, the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, specific blood collection centers in different countries will be open to blood donors from Shiites and followers of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them.
In the holy city of Karbala, blood donation will take place in sacred Bayn al-Haramayn on this auspicious event.
The tradition of donating blood on the birthday of Sayed al-Shuhada, peace be upon him, was established following the directives of the supreme Shia Authority, Grand Ayatollah Seyed Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi.
This graceful tradition is held in different cities within Islamic and non-Islamic countries, meeting the need of thousands of people to blood donation.
The purpose of donating blood on the birthday of the creator of the Ashura epic is to promote the Ashura culture, so that all the people of the world know that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, even sacrificed his blood in order to defend the religion of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his family.
It is necessary to mention that popular blood donation campaigns have seen an increase in participation among the Shiites across the globe, especially young people.
