The 26th edition of the Moscow International Quran Competition has opened at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque in the Russian capital, under the title “Prize of African Countries.” The event is organized by the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and highlights Quranic recitation and memorization among Muslim communities across Africa.

The final round is dedicated to memorizing the entire Holy Quran, with 13 outstanding memorizers representing 13 African countries competing for the international award.

According to Russia’s TASS news agency, the competition is being held before an international panel of judges chaired by Sheikh Ahmed Naina.

The event is also viewed as an opportunity to strengthen cultural and religious ties between Islamic institutions in Russia and Muslim communities across the African continent, while providing a platform to celebrate Quranic scholarship and the dedication of its memorizers.
