New Swedish Translation of Holy Quran Launched in Stockholm

A new Swedish translation of the meanings of the Holy Quran was officially launched in Stockholm on Saturday, in a ceremony organized by Dar Sakina Publishing House in collaboration with a Malaysian foundation specializing in Quranic printing and translation.

The event drew members of the Arab and Islamic diplomatic corps, representatives from Islamic associations, and featured an exhibition of Islamic manuscripts and art, highlighting the cultural significance of the project.

The initiative, which began in 2007 as a small social media project, has evolved into a comprehensive translation effort, rigorously reviewed for linguistic accuracy and clarity, based on the work of the late Swedish Ambassador Muhammad Knut Bernström.

The edition was printed at the Nasyrul Quran Complex, one of the largest Quran printing centers globally, as part of a project aiming to distribute one million endowment copies in over fifty languages. Approximately 20,000 copies will be distributed in Sweden via mosques, Islamic institutions, and individuals.

The new translation incorporates classical Islamic calligraphy, Ottoman script, and motifs inspired by Swedish culture, aiming to harmonize Islamic identity with the local environment while encouraging recitation, reflection, and understanding of Islam’s humanitarian values.
