The International Nonviolence Organization condemns the crime of targeting worshipers in Nigeria
In the aftermath of the terrorist crime that targeted worshipers in the state of Nigeria, the International Nonviolence Organization, Free Muslim, affiliated with the Imam Shirazi World Foundation in Washington, DC, issued a statement, stating:
The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist crime that targeted worshipers in Maigamji, Nigerian state of Katsina, calling on the authorities to shoulder their responsibilities in protecting civilians.
More than a dozen worshipers were killed and others were kidnapped, whose fate is still unknown, when an armed terrorist group targeted the mosque, in a crime not the first of its kind in the country.
Mosques and schools in the Muslim-majority northern regions are constantly exposed to terrorist acts amid deliberate negligence by the federal and local authorities in Nigeria, which raises concern and disapproval of this policy.
According to testimonies obtained by the organization, the terrorist gangs openly practice the imposition of royalties and extortion against Muslim civilians, as they periodically rob the profits they collect from these simple people, most of whom work as farmers and livestock breeders.
The organization believes that the administrative and financial corruption and the racist and sectarian policies practiced by the authorities contribute effectively to the growth and activity of terrorist groups and armed gangs, which calls on the international community to comprehensively review international positions towards the Nigerian authorities.
