Islamic Initiative Distributes Over 500 School Backpacks to Families in Chicago
The Islamic Circle of North America Relief (ICNA Relief) organized its annual charitable initiative to distribute backpacks and school supplies in the city of Chicago, USA, aiming to support needy families and help their children prepare for the start of the new school year.
The initiative saw the distribution of more than 500 school backpacks equipped with various tools and educational supplies, along with the provision of food vouchers to beneficiary families, in an effort to alleviate their financial and living burdens.
Organizers of the initiative explained that the program aims to enable children to return to school equipped with the basic supplies they need, while also assisting parents who face difficulties in affording school necessities amid rising living costs.
The event was attended by the President of the Cook County Board and several local officials, who praised the annual efforts made to support a wide and diverse range of families, particularly those facing challenging economic conditions.
Zubi Ahmed, the National Back to School Program Director at ICNA Relief, noted that many beneficiary families face financial challenges that sometimes force them to choose between providing basic family needs and purchasing school supplies for their children.
The initiative is part of a series of humanitarian and social programs implemented by the Islamic Circle of North America Relief to assist needy families, promote values of community solidarity, and provide equal opportunities for children to begin their school year in a stable manner.
