More than 400 students participate in an Islamic knowledge competition across Australia
More than 400 students participated in the Islamic knowledge competition organized by the Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims (IFAM) at the national level in Australia. The educational event aimed to enhance religious knowledge and strengthen the Islamic identity among children and youth.
The competition took place in the states of New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia, as well as the Australian Capital Territory. It included questions about the Holy Quran, the Prophet’s biography, Islamic history, ethics, the fundamentals of faith, and Islamic teachings.
Several educational institutions hosted the competitions, including Western Sydney University, RMIT University in Victoria, the Australian National University (ANU) in the capital territory, and the AIC Coodanup in Western Australia.
Organizers emphasized that the broad participation reflects the Muslim families’ interest in enriching their children’s Islamic culture and connecting the younger generations with religious teachings and values, especially given the limited opportunities for structured Islamic education in some areas.
The Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims has been organizing this competition annually since 2006. The objective is to encourage children and youth to expand their Islamic knowledge and maintain their religious identity within the Australian community, offering an educational environment that combines competition and learning benefits.
The organizing committee announced the selection of winners at the state level and across Australia. The first prize winner will receive a ticket to perform Umrah, the second place will receive a laptop, and the third will receive a cash prize, along with commendation awards for state-level winners.
The winners are set to be honored and receive their prizes during the annual conference of the Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims in 2026, scheduled to take place on October 3 and 4 in Rosehill near Parramatta, New South Wales.
Parents praised the initiative and the educational opportunities it offers to the younger generations, emphasizing its importance in reinforcing their children’s Islamic identity, self-confidence, and sense of community belonging and responsibility.
