Japanese Company Develops Plant-Based Soup to Meet Demand from Muslim Tourists

A food company in western Japan has developed a fully plant-based dashi soup with chicken and seafood flavors to meet growing demand in the halal and vegan food markets.
According to Japan’s Kyodo News Agency, Fuji Oil has commercialized the new product using vegetable oils and soybeans.
The Japan Halal Association said demand for halal food has increased across the country amid the Osaka World Expo and a strong rise in tourism.
