Millions of Shia pilgrims across Iraq and Iran gathered to honor the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al‑Jawad (peace be upon him), the ninth Imam of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), in solemn religious observances marked by devotion and reverence.

In Al-Kadhimiya, Baghdad, the Holy Kadhimiya Shrine reported that over four million visitors attended the commemorative rituals. Deputy Secretary General Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Saqqa stated that the crowd, totaling 4,059,978 pilgrims, moved smoothly across the shrine precincts, reflecting high levels of coordination between shrine authorities and security forces. The security plan, managed in three stages—from preventive operations a month before the visit, to addressing potential vulnerabilities across Baghdad, and culminating in on-site execution—ensured a safe, weapon-free environment. Officials confirmed that no major security breaches, traffic incidents, or fires were reported during the observances.

Simultaneously, in Mashhad, Iran, the Holy Razavi Shrine was adorned in black to mark the occasion. Black banners were placed throughout the shrine’s courtyards, walls, and golden interiors, while attendants donned mourning attire. Recitations of eulogies and mourning ceremonies filled the sacred precincts, with local residents and visitors expressing grief over the Imam’s martyrdom and reaffirming their devotion to the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them).

These annual commemorations serve as a spiritual renewal for Shia Muslims, highlighting the Imam’s enduring legacy of piety, justice, and steadfastness in the face of persecution. Pilgrims in both cities emphasized that honoring the Imam’s sacrifice reinforces faith, communal solidarity, and the principles of the Imamate.
