The Halal Expo for the Developing Eight (D8) countries has concluded in Indonesia after five days of activities that brought together companies and institutions from several nations. The event resulted in the signing of trade agreements and memoranda of understanding valued at approximately $13.4 million, aimed at strengthening economic cooperation in the halal products sector.

Held under the theme “Strengthening the Halal Economy in D8 Countries through International Cooperation,” the expo featured around 80 companies from D8 member states and other countries. The event attracted more than 5,000 visitors, including international buyers and business representatives.

Organizers said the expo facilitated numerous meetings between exporters, manufacturers, and business partners, leading to agreements covering various halal products, including spices and industrial raw materials.

The event sought to expand cooperation among entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, while supporting the development of halal supply chains and improving access to global markets.

The expo was part of broader efforts to increase trade among D8 member countries to $500 billion by 2030 through stronger economic partnerships and expanded intra-group commerce.

The D8 group includes Iran, Türkiye, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria. Azerbaijan joined the organization as its ninth member in late 2024.
