Saudi Arabia Launches Digital Platform to Simplify Umrah Visas
————————————–
The Halal Times reports that Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital platform, Nusuk Umrah, aimed at simplifying the visa application process for pilgrims. The platform, which went live on August 20, 2025, is part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to modernize services and boost tourism.
The Nusuk Umrah platform is described as a “one-stop gateway” that allows pilgrims to manage their entire journey, from applying for a visa to booking hotels and transportation, all without the need for traditional travel agents. The service is available in seven languages and is designed to provide a secure, transparent, and user-friendly experience, reducing the risk of fraud.
The report notes that the new system is being introduced as the country experiences a surge in Umrah travel, with over 1.2 million pilgrims having arrived since June 2025. By streamlining the process, Saudi authorities hope to attract over 30 million pilgrims annually by the end of the decade, which is also expected to boost the nation’s non-oil economy. New regulations, such as requiring confirmed hotel bookings before a visa is issued, have also been put in place to manage the increasing number of visitors.
