Renowned Iranian calligrapher Ali Asghar Mousavian, known for holding a record in writing the Qur’an 50 times, has unveiled a new artwork featuring Qur’anic verses inscribed on a replica of the Kaaba. The piece, which will be presented to the Imam Reza Holy Shrine in Holy Mashhad, measures 124 by 124 centimeters and is crafted from fine wood.

Seventy copper and gold-plated steel plates of varying sizes were engraved with verses of the Qur’an using a steel needle in Naskh script. Mousavian said the project took five years and approximately 6,000 hours of work, marking his fiftieth artistic manuscript. A custom wooden case was also built to preserve and transport the piece. Mousavian previously produced notable works, including a full Qur’an engraved on Imam Ali’s legendary sword, Zulfiqar.
