Egypt, UAE release thousands of inmates on blessed Eid al-Adha
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior released 4,199 inmates on Sunday after they received presidential pardons in celebration of Eid Al-Adha, the Ahram Online newspaper reported.
According to the report, the inmates were released in a ceremony held at the 10th of Ramadan Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre.
In a related context, the UAE took similar initiative as it released more than 2,980 following presidential orders, the Arabian Business said, adding that inmates of various nationalities were among those released, who were selected based on good conduct and behaviour.
According to the reports, such initiatives are taken to give prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and bring joy to their families on the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha.
