AI-Powered Tool Helps Stranded Protesters Return Home Safely in New Delhi

An AI-assisted initiative in New Delhi is helping protesters detained by police and left far from the city return home safely, Al Jazeera reported.
Developed by 25-year-old Rajiv Choudhary, the Detainee Gharwapsi Yojana combines AI-powered data processing, live mapping and a network of more than 130 volunteers to coordinate transport, legal assistance and medical support.
Volunteers share police bus details and locations through WhatsApp, enabling the team to identify stranded demonstrators and dispatch nearby drivers. The initiative prioritises women, minors and elderly protesters, offering both practical assistance and emotional reassurance.
Launched amid a crackdown on demonstrations over alleged electoral irregularities, the project has become a support network for protesters facing difficulties contacting relatives or arranging transport after detention. Choudhary hopes to expand the initiative beyond the capital, highlighting how AI can help coordinate grassroots humanitarian assistance and protect vulnerable people during public demonstrations.
