Shia Communities Mark Eid al-Ghadir Across Canada, Africa, the US, Myanmar and Nepal

Shia Muslims and followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, held Eid al-Ghadir celebrations in several countries, including Canada, Ghana, the United States, Myanmar and Nepal, with programs highlighting the Wilayah of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, family gatherings, speeches, poetry, food distribution and cultural activities.
Shia communities around the world marked Eid al-Ghadir, the day associated with the declaration of the Wilayah and Imamate of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, through religious and cultural ceremonies held in multiple countries.
In Canada, a large Eid al-Ghadir gathering was held in Montreal at Hazrat Hamza Park. The event brought together Muslims and followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in an open-air atmosphere of celebration and spirituality. The program included praise recitations, speeches on the significance of the Wilayah of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, and activities designed for families and children.
In Ghana, Shia Muslims and local followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, gathered in the capital, Accra, to commemorate the occasion. A highlight of the ceremony was a performance by local students, who reenacted the historic event of Ghadir Khumm and presented the message of Imam Ali’s succession in a creative and educational format.
In the United States, the Eid al-Ghadir ceremony was held at Imam Ali Mosque in southern New Jersey, serving the wider Philadelphia metropolitan area. The program included speeches explaining the event of Ghadir, devotional poetry and food distribution among attendees.
In Myanmar, according to regional outlet Media India, Shia Muslims and members of the local Muslim community gathered at the central Hussainiya in Taunggyi, the capital of Shan State. The event featured speeches, praise recitations and food distribution.
Meanwhile, in Nepal, the first Eid al-Ghadir mawkib was held in Nepalgunj near the city’s main mosque. Organizers from the “Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, for All” campaign said the initiative aimed to promote the values of Ghadir, including justice, guidance, unity and responsibility.
