Imam al-Hussein Shrine Begins Shading Project in Preparation for Arbaeen Pilgrimage

On Saturday, Imam al-Hussein Shrine announced the initiation of a project to shade the streets and areas leading to the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) in preparation for the Arbaeen pilgrimage. This effort is part of the Husseini Shrine’s extensive preparations to welcome visitors and pilgrims during this significant occasion.

In a statement reported by “Shia Waves Agency,” Engineer Abdul Hassan Muhammad, Head of the maintenance department at Imam al-Hussein Shrine, confirmed that teams have been working for several days to shade the main streets leading to the holy mausoleum.

He noted that the shading project encompasses the Bab al-Qibla street and the adjacent street, starting from the Balush Area all the way to Bab al-Qibla of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him), and extending to the area opposite the al-Shuhada Street. The shading is being implemented using a material called Saran, which effectively protects against sunlight, he added.

Abdul Hassan Muhammad explained that the total area covered by the shading project exceeds 17,000 square meters, significantly improving conditions during high temperatures and providing comfort for the millions of visitors expected during the pilgrimage.

This shading initiative is part of a broader set of preparations undertaken by the Husseini Shrine, which previously launched a cooling project for the spaces within the holy courtyards and surrounding areas.

The project includes the installation of an advanced cooling system aimed at reducing temperatures in the streets by up to 9 degrees Celsius, thereby alleviating the impact of heat on visitors during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

These initiatives underscore the Husseini Shrine’s commitment to providing the best services for the visitors of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and ensuring their comfort during their visit, with ongoing preparations to guarantee a safe and pleasant experience for pilgrims each season.
