WFP Reports Many Afghan Children Attend School Hungry

The World Food Programme (WFP) has revealed that many children in Afghanistan go to school on empty stomachs, Khaama Press reported yesterday.

In a report released on September 16, the WFP highlighted the importance of school meals for learning, stating that fortified biscuits are provided to over 700,000 primary school children daily. For many, these biscuits represent their only meal of the day.

The WFP emphasized that nearly three million children in Afghanistan suffer from malnutrition, underscoring the urgent need for international support to address the humanitarian crisis. As malnutrition rates continue to rise, more urgent international support is needed to prevent a worsening crisis.
