At least 47 people, including civilians and Afghan security forces personnel have been killed in an ISIS attack targeting a residential area in eastern Afghanistan.
At least 47 people, including civilians and Afghan security forces personnel have been killed in an ISIS attack targeting a residential area in eastern Afghanistan.
The attack took place on Friday afternoon in the district of Kot in Nangarhar province, the stronghold of ISIS in Afghanistan that has been a target for the Afghan security forces.
Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial governor’s spokesman, said the insurgents also burned 23 homes and kidnapped some 30 civilians during the attack, although many of the civilians were later released.
Khogyani said the casualties included three children, adding that the attack also wounded another 12 civilians and members of the security forces.
