Shia Rights Watch releases its July report on anti-Shia violations worldwide

The International “Shia Rights Watch” organization (SRW) has issued its monthly report for July on the most prominent human rights violations against Shia Muslims around the world.

The report included a review of major terrorist attacks, including bombings, as well as systematic repression and abuse in a number of countries against Shias, namely Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

The report pointed out that the organization’s teams could only monitor some of the declared violations, in cooperation with some human rights activists and civil organizations.

The report confirmed two Shia citizens were killed in Afghanistan by the terrorist Taliban organization who attacked mourners during Ashura processions.

In Pakistan, the report documented that a suicide bomber detonated himself in Miran Shah killing dozens of civilians, and two other attacks in Peshawar led to a number of deaths.

In Bahrain, the report documented 13 violations and attacks by the ruling authorities against Shia men and clerics and prevented the establishment of the Husseini mourning ceremonies.

In Syria, the organization documented an attack on Shia pilgrims returning from Mecca in Albu Kamal region, followed by a terrorist bombing in the Sayyeda Zainab region in Damascus, targeting areas where Husseini processions were taking place.

In Saudi Arabia, the organization reported 6 anti-Shia violations by the authorities and Husseiniyahs and Husseini gatherings were prevented, amid continuing rise in death sentences.

Finally in Iraq, the organization’s report documented terrorist attacks in Samarra and Diyala provinces that left dozens martyred and injured.
