FAO: Middle East to become second largest importer of food in world in 2032
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) predicted that the Middle East and North Africa region will become the second largest importer of food in the world in 2032.
According to FAO estimates, East Asian countries are now the largest food importers in the world.
The FAO report, published in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, says that the cost of food imports in the Middle East and North African region will increase by an average of 30% by 2032 compared to 2020 and 2022.
