At least eight people have lost their lives and three dozen others sustained injuries when a series of bomb explosions ripped through residential Shia neighborhoods in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.
Iraqi security and medical officials said two people were martyred and nine others injured on Wednesday morning when a roadside bomb went off in the eastern al-Ma’amal neighborhood of the capital.
Separately, an improvised explosive device detonated close to a brick making workshop in the Nahrawan neighborhood of southeast Baghdad, leaving two civilians dead and eight others injured.
One civilian was also martyred and six others sustained injuries on Wednesday when an explosion ripped through a commercial district in the capital’s northern neighborhood of al-Hurriya.
The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq says a total of 714 Iraqis were killed and 1,269 wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in October alone.
