The U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for a U.S.-led takeover of Gaza and the relocation of its Palestinian residents has sparked global condemnation. UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned against any form of “ethnic cleansing,” while countries such as Germany, Brazil, and China criticized the plan as a violation of international law.
Regional allies, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt, strongly rejected the idea, emphasizing their opposition to any forced displacement of Palestinians. Meanwhile, far-right Israeli politicians welcomed the proposal, seeing it as a step toward permanently removing Palestinian control over Gaza.
Trump dismissed international criticism, claiming broad support for his plan. His remarks come amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, with concerns that the proposal could disrupt diplomatic efforts. The White House clarified that the plan does not involve U.S. military intervention, but uncertainty remains over its feasibility and impact on regional stability.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed 47,552 people and injured 111,629 others, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry. The Gaza Government Media Office has given a death toll of at least 61,709 people, saying thousands of people who are missing are now presumed dead.
