Israeli military kills at least 86 Palestinians in Gaza despite ceasefire deal

Israeli airstrikes killed at least 86 Palestinians and injured over 250 across Gaza since the announcement of a ceasefire deal, Gaza’s Civil Defence body reported.

The strikes occurred after mediators in Doha unveiled a three-phase ceasefire plan on Wednesday, pending Israeli cabinet approval. If the initial phase succeeds, the second is set to begin after 42 days, Qatari officials said.

Mediators hope the plan will end over 15 months of conflict that has devastated Gaza and claimed tens of thousands of lives.

Since October 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry reports 46,788 Palestinian deaths, while Israel says 1,200 Israelis were killed in Hamas’ October 7 attack.The ceasefire’s first phase is set to begin Sunday.
