Uzbekistan hosts global leaders to promote Islamic tolerance amid globalization and extremism

Uzbekistan is hosting an international conference titled “Islam: Religion of Peace and Mercy” in the capital, Tashkent. The event, which began yesterday, brings together more than 70 influential figures from international organizations, religious leaders, and prominent scholars representing 22 countries.

Uzbek officials emphasized the importance of preserving Islamic heritage and fostering a spirit of tolerance in the face of globalization, highlighting the contributions of Muslim scholars to global knowledge and spiritual values.

The conference features discussions such as: preserving traditional Islamic principles and practical measures to combat extremism. Participants expressed their commitment to actively promoting peace and mutual understanding. The event will conclude on October 16 in the ancient city of Khiva, where a final statement is expected to be adopted.
