Myanmar authorities have arrested about 100 Rohingya Muslims trying to get out of the western state of Arakan, where more than two years of military operation led by the government has killed thousands of minority Muslims.
Myanmar authorities have arrested more than 96 Rohingya Muslims near Changthar Beach in the Ayeyarwadi region (southwest) as they attempt to reach the commercial capital Yangon.
Rohingy activist Su Tho Moo expected the Myanmar government to indict Rohingya detainees as illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh.
“The threat of genocide continues for the remaining Rohingya in Arakan,” he said.
The Myanmar government prohibits Rohingya Muslims from traveling within Arakan State and completely out of the state to other states.
Since 25 August 2017, the military in Myanmar and extremist Buddhist militias have been waging a military campaign and brutal massacres against the Rohingya in Arakan (Rakhine) province.
The ongoing crimes have killed thousands of Rohingya, according to local and international sources identical, as well as the displacement of nearly one million refugees to Bangladesh, according to the United Nations.
