Afghanistan: Gunmen assassinate Shia cleric in Farah Province

Unidentified gunmen assassinated the Shia cleric, Sheikh Muhammad Ismail Mowahedi, in the Afghan province of Farah.
Local officials from the Taliban terrorist organization in Farah said that unidentified gunmen assassinated a cleric, Sheikh Muhammad Ismail Mowahedi in the province.
Farah’s security spokesman, Arif Adil, said that the accident occurred in the morning, when the Sheikh was shot dead in the third district of Farah.
“The motive behind the killing is not clear, but efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators,” he added.
The data indicate an increase in the number of murders and assassinations in recent months in Farah province, especially those targeting members of the Shia sect.
