Japanese company’s attempt for Moon landing fails

A private company which had planned a rare private Moon landing says it is possible its lunar lander crashed on the surface.

According to ispace, a Japanese space startup, its attempt to make the first private landing on the Moon failed after it lost contact with the Hakuto-R lander moments before it was due to touch down.

This was the second failure for private space projects in a week after SpaceX’s Starship rocket exploded minutes after liftoff from its launch pad. SpaceX is owned by Elon Musk.
