Border Clashes Erupt Between Taliban Forces, Pakistani Troops Near Nangarhar

New armed clashes have erupted between Taliban forces and Pakistani troops along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, reflecting continued security tensions on the shared frontier amid growing concerns that the confrontations could expand.

Local sources in Nangarhar province said the clashes began on Monday evening in the Zari Sar and Tabi Kando areas of Durbaba district, near the Afghan-Pakistani border. They reported that exchanges of fire between the two sides were still ongoing at the time of reporting.

No official information has yet been released regarding casualties or material damage caused by the clashes. The Taliban has also not issued an official comment on the incident.

The escalation comes amid rising tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in recent days, following a series of separate confrontations between the two sides.

Media reports last week said Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes targeting areas in Kunar, Paktia, and Paktika provinces, causing dozens of casualties. Islamabad and the Taliban have continued to exchange accusations over responsibility for the worsening security situation along their shared border.
