Shia Muslims in Italy commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, by holding mourning ceremonies that included Husseini poems and elegies recited in Italian, reflecting the spread of Ashura’s message across different peoples and cultures.

According to media reports followed by Shia Waves Agency, the ceremonies featured elegiac poetry and speeches recalling the tragedy of Karbala and the values it embodied, including sacrifice, reform, justice, and dignity.

Participants expressed their grief and sympathy for Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in the Italian language, renewing their loyalty to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his eternal uprising.

They said commemorating Husseini rituals in Italian helps convey Imam Hussein’s message to local communities and introduces the humanitarian principles of Karbala, foremost among them supporting truth, rejecting oppression, and defending human dignity.

The events reflect the growing presence of the Husseini movement in Europe and the commitment of Shia communities to presenting Ashura’s message in the languages and cultures of the societies in which they live.
