South African Startup Uses Google AI Model to Detect Lung Diseases in 45 Seconds
—————————————-
A South African startup has developed a system that uses Google’s artificial intelligence technology to analyze chest X-ray images in just 45 seconds and detect signs of lung diseases such as tuberculosis.

The technology is designed to assist doctors in underserved areas, where a shortage of radiologists often forces patients to wait long periods for X-ray interpretation.

According to Zoomit, the system was developed by Nexus Intelligence using Google’s chest X-ray imaging model, known as CXR. It is currently being used in several African countries and even in underground mines to support rapid diagnosis of lung diseases.

The tool aims to speed up medical screening, improve access to early diagnosis and help healthcare workers respond more quickly in regions with limited specialist resources.
