The growing number of international conflicts, climate crises and persistent insecurity around the world has driven displacement and asylum needs to unprecedented levels.

In its latest assessments, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has warned of a deepening global displacement crisis and called on the international community to prepare for its widening consequences.

According to Anadolu Agency, Jackie Keegan, head of Durable Solutions and Field Support at UNHCR’s Division of International Protection, said the agency estimates that around 2.4 million refugees worldwide will urgently need resettlement in third countries in 2027 in order to survive and access a stable life.

The figure highlights the scale of the crisis and the need for immediate, coordinated international cooperation to support refugees and expand safe resettlement pathways.
