Grand Ayatullah Shirazi calls for ascending ranks of piety, investing in Ramadan for self-building and correcting one’s path

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi called on believers to rise to higher levels of piety and to make full use of the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity for self-development and moral reform.
The senior religious authority emphasized the need for faithful men and women to uphold the highest standards of God-consciousness (taqwa) and adherence to divine teachings as Ramadan approaches, describing the blessed month as an exceptional opportunity for spiritual growth and purification of the soul.
His Eminence made the remarks during a speech delivered before a group of preachers and religious scholars at his residence in the holy city of Qom, ahead of Ramadan. He urged sincere determination to embody piety and to progress in its ranks according to each individual’s ability and capacity.
Grand Ayatollah al-Shirazi stated that believers should strive to be among the pious, increasing their commitment to taqwa—especially during the great month of Ramadan—and learn from the example of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
He stressed that Ramadan is not merely a seasonal period of worship, but an annual station for reassessing priorities, correcting intentions, refining character, and strengthening moral virtues in ways that positively influence personal conduct, family life, and society.
In his guidance, he consistently underscores the importance of utilizing religious occasions—particularly blessed months—as renewed opportunities to build character, expand righteous deeds, and reinforce faith-based values that contribute to a cohesive and principled society.
