Pakistan and Afghanistan Agree on Immediate Ceasefire in Doha Talks
…………….

Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following high-level talks held in Doha, Qatar, aimed at easing escalating tensions along their shared border. The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced that the two countries reached a deal to halt hostilities and establish mechanisms to ensure lasting peace.

The agreement also includes follow-up meetings in the coming days to monitor and sustain the ceasefire. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, who took part in the negotiations, confirmed that both sides will hold another round of discussions in Istanbul on October 25. He expressed gratitude to Qatar and Turkey for mediating the talks and facilitating dialogue between the neighboring nations.

The ceasefire follows renewed violence on Friday when Pakistani airstrikes targeted militant groups allegedly linked to the Taliban in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, killing at least ten civilians, including children and three cricket players. A previous truce had been reached last week after deadly border clashes, but recent strikes threatened to derail the peace process.

Afghan forces have so far avoided direct retaliation to preserve negotiations, though Kabul maintains the right to respond if the ceasefire is violated. Both sides hope the agreement will restore calm and foster long-term stability after years of recurring cross-border conflicts.
