EASO confirms the collapse of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and seeks to support refugees

The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) published its international report on the simmering situation in Afghanistan, covering the initial developments since the Taliban terrorist movement seized power on August 15, 2021, while noting the ongoing violence against the Shia community in the country.
According to the office’s official website, the report included security incidents and violence related to rebels and terrorist elements, in addition to information on the general humanitarian situation.
The report pointed out that “the rule under the control of the terrorist movement worsened the situation, especially in its understanding of the application of Islamic law and the imposition of its own perception on the local population, such as dress codes, the status of women, girls’ education, freedom of movement, women’s access to work and religious freedoms.
It added that “the general security situation has changed in the country in recent months, and there are reports of clashes between the Taliban and ISIS in the state of Khorasan, and severe attacks against Shia mosques in the country.”
