Gaza is experiencing large-scale displacement as Israeli forces escalate operations aimed at taking full control of the territory, aggravating an already severe humanitarian crisis. Israeli estimates indicate that over 250,000 people have fled since the start of the week, while UN figures show that roughly one million residents were living in Gaza City and surrounding areas before intensive airstrikes targeted residential towers and infrastructure.

Civil defense authorities report that around 68,000 people have moved south, but many remain in their homes or cannot find shelter in overcrowded southern areas such as Al-Mawasi and Deir al-Balah. Local hospitals note that residents often return to their neighborhoods after failing to access basic services in the south, highlighting their reluctance to leave the city.
