According to the Ottawa Police Service and news outlets like CTV News and CBC News, an investigation is underway into a hate-motivated assault on a Muslim woman on an OC Transpo bus in Kanata, Ottawa, Iqna.ir revealed. The incident, which took place on a Monday afternoon, involved a man who allegedly used Islamophobic slurs and physically assaulted the woman.

The Ottawa Police Hate and Bias Crime Unit is leading the investigation and is working with the victim and Muslim community leaders. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe have both publicly condemned the attack, with Carney calling it “reprehensible.”
