Malaysia Offers Grants of Up to RM5,000 to Help Small Businesses Obtain Halal Certification
————————————-
Malaysia has announced financial assistance of up to 5,000 Malaysian ringgit (RM) for microenterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking halal certification for the first time.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the matching-grant scheme on Friday, October 9, 2026, while presenting the 2027 federal budget to the House of Representatives in Kuala Lumpur, according to Malaysia’s national news agency, Bernama.

The government also plans to allocate RM25,000 to support SMEs operating in the halal industry, particularly businesses in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors.

The initiative aims to reduce financial barriers to halal certification and enable more small businesses to participate in Malaysia’s expanding halal economy. Certification can help companies demonstrate compliance with halal requirements and access markets where such standards are important.

Malaysia’s halal industry covers a wide range of sectors, including food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and services. By supporting smaller businesses, the government aims to strengthen their participation in higher-value industries and improve their opportunities in domestic and international markets.
