ISIS Launches Three Attacks on SDF Forces in Deir ez-Zor

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported three separate attacks by ISIS militants in Deir ez-Zor province, eastern Syria, resulting in one SDF fighter killed and another injured, Rudaw reported. The attacks targeted an SDF military vehicle in al-Busayrah, a checkpoint in Dhiban, and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) between al-Shahil and al-Busayrah.
The SDF condemned the attacks as desperate attempts by ISIS to revive its weakening organization. Following the initial assault, SDF forces clashed with ISIS militants who fled after the confrontation, prompting ongoing search operations.
These incidents come shortly after the US military announced the killing of a senior ISIS leader and two sons in Aleppo province. Despite its 2019 defeat by the SDF and US-led coalition, ISIS continues exploiting Syria’s chaos to regroup.
SDF officials emphasize the need for intensified efforts against ISIS and are reportedly in talks with Damascus for joint counterterrorism operations.
