India reopens 32 airports after ceasefire with Pakistan

India reopened 32 airports on Monday after a weekend ceasefire brought an end to four days of intense clashes with Pakistan, marking the worst escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors since 1999.

The Airport Authority of India confirmed the airports, ranging from Srinagar in Indian-administered Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, are now open for civil operations. The facilities were shut last week amid heightened military tensions that raised international concerns over the possibility of a broader conflict.

Indian carrier IndiGo announced it would gradually resume flights on affected routes. Although both countries agreed to a truce on Saturday, each accused the other of early violations. Despite the accusations, border areas remained calm on Monday, according to statements from both sides.

The reopening of airports is seen as a step toward normalcy, though regional tensions continue to simmer. International observers have called for restraint and dialogue to maintain stability.
