Jordanian Mobile Bakery Supplies 390,000 Loaves Weekly to Palestinians in Gaza

A Jordanian mobile bakery is playing a crucial role in feeding nearly 2 million Palestinians in Gaza amid a severe flour shortage caused by the ongoing Israeli blockade since mid-March, Arab News reported. The bakery, one of the few still operational in the territory, produced approximately 390,000 loaves of bread last week alone by operating 19 hours daily.

Deployed to Gaza in December, the bakery can bake about 3,500 loaves per hour, totaling around 75,000 loaves daily. It operates despite restricted access and ongoing Israeli attacks, helping to address urgent food needs in the war-torn region.

The bakery partners with World Central Kitchen, an international humanitarian organization distributing bread to families across Gaza, including hard-to-reach areas. This collaboration is part of Jordan’s broader humanitarian aid efforts, which also include medical support.

World Central Kitchen reaffirmed its commitment to Gaza’s people during this critical time, despite losing seven aid workers in a drone strike in April 2024. The bakery’s operation remains vital in sustaining Gaza’s population under extreme conditions.
