Bomb Explosion in South Waziristan Mosque Injures Islamist Party Leader

A bomb explosion at the Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque in South Waziristan on Friday left Abdullah Nadeem, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal-ur-Rehman group), severely injured, along with three others, including children, Khaama Press reported. The regional police chief, Asif Bahadar, confirmed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted at the pulpit, detonating at 1:45 PM during Friday prayers.
Nadeem was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the other injured individuals sustained minor injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and investigations are ongoing as police collect evidence from the site.
This incident highlights a rising trend of violence in Pakistan’s border regions with Afghanistan, raising serious security concerns. Pakistan has pledged to intensify efforts against insurgent groups, which it alleges receive support from the Taliban, who have denied these claims.
