Iraqi Prime Minister Announces Succes of Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced the successful execution of the Husseini Arbaeen pilgrimage plan during a press conference in Karbala on Sunday, INA news agency reported yesterday.

Al-Sudani confirmed the allocation of 3.5 trillion dinars to support 36 service projects aimed at accommodating millions of visitors. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, particularly highlighting progress on the Karbala-Najaf metro project.

“May God reward everyone who contributed, served, and participated in the Arbaeen Visit,” al-Sudani stated, noting that the event symbolizes a historical adherence to the values and principles ingrained within the community from the Husseini revolution.

The announced service projects are part of a broader initiative, with 37 projects in the initial phase of a total of 102 planned. Key projects include the construction of a ring road around Karbala, rehabilitation of major thoroughfares, and the establishment of water treatment facilities. Significant investments are earmarked for enhancing road connectivity between Karbala and Najaf, as well as creating pilgrim cities and service centers to cater to visitors.

Al-Sudani assured that these projects are set for implementation, with ministries and local governments expected to commence work within weeks. This initiative aims to improve infrastructure and services in anticipation of the millions of pilgrims visiting during significant religious events.
