Australia Greenlights World’s ‘largest solar precinct’

A groundbreaking solar farm project in remote northern Australia has received environmental approval, paving the way for its construction and potential to transform Australia’s energy landscape, VOA reported yesterday.

Sun Cable, an Australian company, plans to build a massive 12,400-hectare solar farm in the Northern Territory. The project, known as Australia-Asia PowerLink, aims to generate up to six gigawatts of renewable energy annually and transmit it to Singapore via an 800-kilometer overhead transmission line and a 4,300-kilometer submarine cable.

The Australian government’s approval marks a significant milestone for the $19 billion project, which has been in development for several years. If realized, it would be the largest solar farm in the world, positioning Australia as a global leader in renewable energy.
