Australia: Open Day at Minto Mosque Promotes Interfaith Dialogue and Community Service
The Minto Mosque in New South Wales, Australia, opened its doors to the public as part of a special event focused on serving youth, enhancing interfaith dialogue, and fostering community solidarity, with participation from individuals of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
The “Open Day for Mosques” event took place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Religious Youth Service (RYS), affiliated with the Universal Peace Federation in Australia. Founded in 1986, this group aims to unite youth from various religions and cultures through community work, friendship, and dialogue.
The program, which ran from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, witnessed the participation of young people, community members, and religious leaders in a series of volunteer activities, including cleaning, gardening, planting, and beautifying the surrounding environment.
The day also featured interfaith dialogue meetings and discussions, alongside a luncheon that gathered participants. Attendees listened to speeches from members of the Religious Youth Service group who shared their experiences in volunteer work, leadership, and community service.
The event aimed to provide a space for interaction and communication among followers of different religions and cultures, encouraging youth participation in community initiatives and promoting values of cooperation, understanding, and coexistence.
For decades, the Minto Mosque has provided its religious and community services to the Muslim community in the Minto and Macarthur areas of New South Wales, in addition to playing a role in fostering communication between Muslims and the broader Australian society.
