Five Policemen, Teacher Dismissed in Kashmir Over Terror Allegations
On Saturday, the Indian government dismissed five policemen and a teacher in Indian-controlled Kashmir due to allegations of anti-India activities and links to terrorism, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
A notification from the General Administration Department stated that law enforcement and intelligence agencies identified the individuals as being involved in actions detrimental to the state’s interests.
The dismissed policemen—Saif Din, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Khalid Hussain Shah, Rahmat Shah, and Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo—were accused of collaborating with militant groups, smuggling drugs, and aiding the movement of militants and weapons from Pakistan. Teacher Nazam Din was labeled a “highly motivated drug peddler” and an Over Ground Worker for the Hizbul Mujahidin terrorist outfit.
Since the revocation of the region’s special status in 2019, numerous government employees, including university professors, have faced dismissal under Article 311 (2) of the Indian Constitution, which limits reinstatement options to the High Court.
