Hurricane Helene Leaves 92 Unaccounted for in North Carolina
As North Carolina grapples with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Governor Roy Cooper reported that 92 individuals remain unaccounted for, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
This number may fluctuate as ongoing efforts by the task force continue to gather information. The hurricane, which struck on September 26, has claimed at least 118 lives in North Carolina, contributing to a grim total of 243 fatalities across several states.
Severe flooding and landslides have isolated numerous towns, complicating recovery operations. Governor Cooper warned against the dangers of misinformation, which has led to threats against federal responders. Despite these challenges, over 2,000 federal workers remain dedicated to recovery efforts in the state, emphasizing that misinformation will not hinder their mission to assist those in need.
