Grand Ayatollah Shirazi describes traditions attributed to Infallibles regarding Mukhtar al-Thaqafi as questionable

The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh Hosseini Shirazi was held yesterday, Tuesday, Muharram 27. In this session, like the previous meetings, the Supreme Religious Authority answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudence issues.

In this meeting, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi discussed the narrations attributed to the Infallible Imams (peace be upon them) about Mukhtar al-Thaqafi and his uprising, concluding that: As far as I am concerned, not even one of them is authentic, that is, it is not certain that it was issued by the infallible Imam.

His Eminence continued by saying that there are different narrations about Mukhtar and his uprising, both positive and negative, all of which are either Mursal or Weak.

He went on to say: the deceased Marja, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Shirazi, wrote a book and a pamphlet about Mukhtar’s personality, expressing his judgment that Mukhtar was a good person and his actions were correct.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi then encouraged those interested to find this book and study it in order to benefit from the good information therein.
